A fast or slow, big or small hobby for everyone, in every season, for every element, pretty much everywhere.
Radio controlled Cars and Trucks have continued to progress throughout the years. Waterproof, 40 min runtime, 60 Mph, are all terms used commonly amongst hobby grade R/C manufacturers. Some looser in their claims than others, but all with capabilities, durability, parts support and educational opportunities that deliver well above their initial cost. **Staring at about the same as a plain ATV tire and less than one tire for a "real" offroad truck, they're far more practical on a real budget. Being electric, there's no gas to fill, oil to pollute, trees to cut etc. Plus unlike other powersports, when you crash or roll from having too much fun, there's no insurance claims or risk of injury, lengthy hospital stays or worse.
Why go hobby grade? Simple, driving the vehicle is only one small part of the hobby. Building, fixing and tuning are the immersive part of the RC hobby. Experience the challenge of building realistic vehicles and feel the sense of accomplishment as it gracefully rips through corners. Make changes and adjustments to improve your lap time, or finally crest that impossible hill climb! Even if you crash and burn, you'll live to tell the tale and won't miss any other important life events. Sure, it's frustrating sometimes. Breaking parts, seized bearings, fiddly little pieces etc. But anything with a reward worth experiencing, usually requires effort and has the potential for frustrating failure. Come learn some new skills and rise to the challenge. Share some great experiences with family and friends at places you already know and love, and maybe even find something entirely new!
